Can Honey really help with weight loss?

Happy New Year!  Thanks for taking the time to read my very first ever blog post.  I’m new to all of this media stuff and boy is it hard to keep up with.  I’ve always considered myself young and in the know, but I’ve recently discovered NOT SO MUCH!  Anywho today I wanted to talk a little about one of the many benefits of honey; weigh loss.  Honey contains many vitamins and minerals that help your body with digestion.

So first things first; a lot of people think honey is a sugar.  While honey does contain sugar, it is not like refined sugar.  Refined sugars have empty calories meaning there is not a benefit to eating them.  Honey contains vitamins and minerals; as I mentioned, and many other healthy nutrients.  To digest sugars, your body will use up valuable vitamins and minerals that are stored in your body. These nutrients are essential to dissolve fats and cholesterol.  Refined sugars don’t contain any vitamins or minerals therefore causing your body not to be able to break it down. Weight gain from sugar is due to the calorie intake as well as the subsequent lack of vitamins and minerals. With honey having its own nutrients in it, it helps break down the sugar causing them not to bee (typo but thought it was cute so I left it :)) stored as fat.

Honey contains protein, water, fiber, sugar, and various nutrients.  Minerals like iron, sodium, potassium, phosphorus, zinc, and calcium can be found in honey along with vitamins such as folate, riboflavin, vitamin C and B6.  Honey is believed to mobilize stored fat.  When stored fat is burnt to provide energy, you will notice a gradual decrease in weight.  So, take your spoonful of honey this resolution season and see what its benefits can do for you.  There are many different recipes for cleanses using honey floating around, especially right now when everyone is on the weight loss kick.  Just make sure your honey is raw/unpasteurized so you can take advantage of the benefits naturally produced in honey.

Thanks again for taking the time to read my first blog post.  Stay tuned to read more about the benefits produced from the hive and the fun things we at Bee Calm & Hive On have created to keep you living a healthy and natural lifestyle.
